CAROLINE DAVIS solo

Fallows

Caroline Davis chooses the songs in her solo performances mindfully based on atmospheres of the room and people. She explores sonic textures from the saxophone and interactive technologies on the Organelle, a pocket music computer / synthesizer. The distinctively quirky songs in Caroline’s solo performance come from her recent solo album, Fallows, created during a time of rest on land in Wyoming. bell hooks’ ideas were a constant source of inspiration for this album, such as - love as a practice of freedom, radical openness, belief in one's capacity to transform, and eliminating elimination.

Portals

Caroline Davis, Julian Shore, Chris Tordini, Timothy Angulo

Volume 1: Mourning

Volume 2: Returning

Caroline Davis’ Portals is an immersive sound and haptic experience, drawing upon the idea of mourning and ancestral communications as textural entities. The music has been mindfully written to offer connections to Caroline’s ancestors who have transitioned and elements they would like to explore through the life-cycle portal. Through the compositions, the ensemble engages in the connective tissue between dual and non-dual realms of existence. Two albums Portals Volume 1 (Mourning, 2021) and Portals Volume 2 (Returning, 2024) feature modular ensembles, and the current lineup includes Julian Shore, Chris Tordini, and Timothy Angulo.

Caroline Davis, Qasim Naqvi, Grey McMurray

Trappings of Sleep

Davis, Mcmurray and Naqvi first played together at a casual bar show in Brooklyn in 2022, having crossed paths through New York's improvised music community. The connection was immediate, and for the next several years the three continued to develop that shared language whenever schedules allowed. Their album, Trappings of Sleep, was released October 30th 2026, on Red Hook Records.

Caroline Davis + Wendy Eisenberg

Accept When

"They can't be pinned down to this or that thing...On Accept When, the pair’s 2024 album with the drummer Greg Saunier, their intensely personal songs flout any sense of stylistic purity, embedding singer-songwriter tropes within complex harmonies and freewheeling improvisations. Davis and Eisenberg embrace diversity—regarding music, gender, and more—and see music-making and songwriting as acts of personal expression and impassioned resistance." - P. Margasak, Chamber Music Magazine

"The record is inviting and grounded, yet also takes us places unexpected and unimagined, a sonic magical realism...even when they’re in contrasting motions, there’s a complementary vibe that binds and illuminates." - M. Faloon, Vol. 1 Brooklyn

"[Davis’s] music, and Boulé’s dance, together evoked a sort of anti-montage; one that asked audience members to consider their collaboration as a continuous, low-velocity deconstruction of the other, and their art as an emergent phenomenon as opposed to a synthesized, coherent presentation." - Conor Reilley, The Monitor
